Pete's strange 'fag breaks'

BABYSHAMBLES thrilled fans with an intimate gig at Brixton’s Mass last night -
but while PETE DOHERTY started the set well, his repeated 'fag breaks' left
him hollow-eyed and slurring.
THE VIEW’s KYLE FALCONER was the surprise support act,
rolling through a solo acoustic set.

He took in some of his band’s finest tunes as well as brilliant covers of
Don’t Look Back in Anger and SQUEEZE's Up the Junction.

It was inevitable Pete would steal the show and as the band launched into the
first few bars of JOY DIVISION’s She’s Lost Control he looked
fresh-faced and coherent.

But at the halfway mark, things were going downhill and having emptied his can
of lager over the crowd during a cover of THE CLASH’s Janie Jones, it
certainly wasn’t the booze that was doing the damage.

The former LIBERTINES star sported a necklace threaded through the back
of his Titfer and played with it throughout What Katie Did Next - could it
have once belonged to MISS MOSS?

It was repeated 'fag breaks' that attracted the most attention and towards the
end of an admittedly impressive set Pete was nipping off stage between each
song, blatantly flouting the smoking ban at the second floor venue.
If that’s what he was really up to.

'Brad Pitt Is Lovely, Smart & Gorgeous'

It seems that Brad Pitt made a lasting impression on Mary-Louise Parker – and in a good way.

The actress – who shared the screen with Pitt in 2007 movie The Assassination Of Jesse James – had nothing but praise for her former co-star in a recent interview.

"Brad is actually a lovely, smart person, not to mention gorgeous," the actress tells Parade.com.
And the gushing doesn't end there.

Parker continues, "People just project so much onto him and Angelina [Jolie] which isn't true. I just find it so bizarre.

“It's like you've never been in the room with this person, much less met them but you're convinced as to who they are and what they're morality is."
We're more than happy to right this injustice by entering a room with Brad and checking out his morality first-hand.

Shazia is fired from The Apprentice

Mosaic artist Shazia Wahab has become the latest person to be fired by Alan Sugar in 'The Apprentice'.
Wahab, whose family hold a Guinness World Record for the number of degrees they have between them, was booted off the show after the girls' team, led by Jenny Celerier, lost a laundry task on last night's show.
Speaking about her sacking, she said: "I'm shocked that I was fired. I actually don't know (why)."
"When I walked out I was in complete shock. I said I'd been stitched up. I don't know what went through his (Alan Sugar's) mind. I don't think he was given the facts to make a decision."
Wahab continued: "Sir Alan also said that he'd been in the business a long time, for many, many years, and that he knew the good from the bad."
"But what was his impression of Jenny? I don't know why he fired me."

Corrie's Liam set for dramatic exit?

'Coronation Street' heartthrob Rob James-Collier is reportedly set to quit the show when his current contract expires at the end of this year.
According to Digital Spy, the 31-year-old actor, who plays factory boss Liam Connor in the show, is leaving because of "typecast" fears.
A show source reportedly told the News of the World: "Nobody was expecting this and it's bad news because Liam has become hugely popular with fans."
"He won Sexiest Male at the British Soap Awards and they had big things planned for him."
"They wanted the Carla-Liam-Maria thing to really step up in pace, with him finally cheating on his girl with his sister-in-law. It would have given them a brilliant storyline which could have bubbled away until Christmas."
According to the report, a 'Coronation Street' spokesperson late confirmed the actor's planned departure, saying: "We've known for some time that Rob would be leaving at the end of his current contract."
"It's given the writers time to pen a really good exit storyline for his character, Liam."
"Rob will remain filming with us until around October and he will bow out on screen at the end of the year."

Filter change: Frontman Richard Patrick now sober-minded

Back in 1999, Filter’s Richard Patrick was on an alcohol-fueled ride to hell.
Around the time he was putting the finishing touches on Filter’s “Title of Record” album, Patrick caused turbulence on an airline flight by drunkenly stripping off his clothes and wrestling with flight attendants. Jotting down his feelings about the stunt resulted in “Take a Picture,” the unusually melodic song that completed the CD and, ironically, became the otherwise industrial postgrunge act’s biggest hit to date.
“That song was a massive cry for help,” the Needham-born Patrick said from South Carolina a day after Filter’s first official gig in six years. “And it ended up making me a million dollars. Life gives you lemons and you make lemonade.”

Now Filter is heading to the Tweeter Center in Mansfield on Sunday, when the band will play WBCN [website]’s River Rave on a bill that includes the reunited StoneTemple Pilots, Everlast and Pennywise.
Patrick began to straighten himself out in fall 2002, when he scrubbed Filter’s tour plans and checked himself into rehab. The decision saved his life, but it put his band on hold. Attempting a return to work immediately after getting out of rehab, the newly sober Patrick felt out of step with his colleagues. He bought time by releasing a collection of songs written with brothers Dean and Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots under the name Army of Anyone. But Patrick knew he had unfinished business.
cw2 “I’m back doing Filter because I love it,” he said. “I repeatedly turned my back on this project when it was huge, and it’s taken me five years to see how retarded that was. I couldn’t function well enough to properly promote the CDs (and) had to cancel an entire tour to go to rehab. In general I feel like I owe this to myself, to the band and to the fans. Filter deserves a second chance.”
If Patrick, now 40, sounds determined, that’s because he is. With nearly six years of clean time under his belt, he says getting sober is the best thing that’s ever happened to him. And he feels blessed to have a new son, (Sloan Patrick, born Feb. 23), a solid marriage and a career full of possibilities.
He’s also pleased to be free of his contract with Warner Bros. and to have had complete creative control over Filter’s new self-released CD, “Anthems for the Damned.” What’s more, the lifestyle differences between Patrick and his band mates are officially a thing of the past: The 2008 touring version of Filter is, its leader aside, an all-new unit of guitarist Mitchell Marlow, bassist John Spiker and drummer Mika Fineo.
“I’ve surrounded myself with people that are normal or are in recovery,” Patrick said. “Luckily I haven’t had to fire anyone yet.”
Patrick says that dissolving Army of Anyone was a mutual decision with the DeLeos, who were already hankering to reform Stone Temple Pilots. Vocalist Scott Weiland has since parted ways with Velvet Revolver, leaving STP to launch a full-scale reunion tour.
But while STP fans are delighted, Patrick was surprised by the turn of events. He says the DeLeos were genuinely shocked at his newfound sober professionalism and chose to reunite with Weiland, whose ongoing, messy substance abuse issues have made him a gossip-page regular. Patrick believes it’s a testament to Weiland’s talent that the DeLeos are willing to risk teaming with their former singer again.
“Robert and Dean love a great vocalist, that’s what it boils down to,” Patrick said. “I think it’s really beautiful that they’re giving it another whirl with Scott. And I know how difficult this is for him. Addiction is a deplorable, degrading mental illness and he’s had a rough road.
“On the other hand,” added Patrick, “if there’s a cat around with nine lives, it’s Scotty Weiland. So, God bless him.”

Contrary to what some power strike, Ingram Hill is non of the call of a solo artist just rather, a band; no one in Ingram Hill is really named Ingram Hill (just now like on that point was never a musician named Lynyrd Skynyrd or Jethro Tull -- at least non in either of those well-known '70s bands). Like Cracker, Train, and Tonic, Ingram Hill has an earthy, unpretentious approach that is relevant to both alternative pop/rock and roots rock. The Memphis-based quartet aren't an exact reproduction of authoritative rockers from the '60s and '70s -- their work on is, by '90s and early-2000s standards, more modern -- only they do experience a certain down-home rootsiness that has gone all over well in Southern rock circles. That isn't to sound out that their sound is stereotypically southern in the way that Lynyrd Skynyrd, Molly Hatchet, the Outlaws, the Marshall Tucker Band, and Black Oak Arkansas were stereotypically southern back in the '70s; Ingram Hill doesn't have into hell-raisin' well ol' boy stereotypes, and their lyrics run to be brooding, introverted, and thoughtful. Ingram Hill brings a long list of influences to their exploit -- a list that ranges from Tonic, Cracker, Blues Traveler, and the Gin Blossoms to the Black Crowes (a patronise comparing), Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, the Rolling Stones, and John Cougar Mellencamp. Ingram Hill was formed during the summer of 2000, when Justin Moore (lead vocals, regular recurrence guitar) and Phil Bogard (lead guitar) linked forces with two early musicians they knew from the University of Memphis, Shea Sowell (bass, background signal vocals) and Matt Chambless (drums). Before Ingram Hill, Moore and Bogard had played together in a Memphis band called the Bamboozlers (wHO were together from 1997-2000 and commit out a CD coroneted Shopping for Stuart). In 2001 and 2002, Ingram Hill toured the Deep South extensively, and developed a small but enthusiastic regional following in that part of the United States. Their starting time release came in 2002, when they commit out their debut EP, Until Now, on their have pronounce, Traveler Records. Five of the disc's 8 tracks were produced by Tonic vocalizer Emerson Hart, and Until Now sold about 10,000 copies. Then, in 2003, the Memphis residents released their first base full-length album, June's Picture Show, on Traveler; the CD was produced by Rick Beato, world Health Organization had worked with Billionaire, the Tender Idols, Flickerstick, and singer/songwriter Michelle Malone, among others. June's Picture Show had only been out a few weeks when Ingram Hill signed with Hollywood Records, which re-released the album in February 2004. Cold in California followed from Hollywood in 2007.
